TravelMaster Shortlisted for Yorkshire Regional Award

TravelMaster has been shortlisted for a Chartered Institute of Highways and Transport (CIHT) Yorkshire and Humber Award. TravelMaster has been shortlisted for is the Best Small Project for our SYBus ticket, a multi-operator bus ticket covering the whole of South Yorkshire.

The ticket added to TravelMaster's existing South Yorkshire range. SYConnect has offered bus and tram travel throughout the region for a number of years, with SYConnect+ adding on train travel for integrated journeys.

SYBus was launched in August 2024 after a gap was identified in TravelMaster's ticket range as part of the South Yorkshire Enhanced Partnership. The partnership includes the following stakeholders: South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), First Bus, Stagecoach Group Limited, TM Travel and Confederation of Passenger Transport. SYBus then became the catalyst for ticketing simplification with removal of TravelMaster's district products removed in January 2025.

Unlike other schemes SYBus has been delivered without public funding. SYBus is now TravelMaster's 3rd most popular ticket and continues to grow. The ticket offers travel on any bus throughout South Yorkshire and can be purchased as 1-day, bundles of five 1-day, 7-day, 28-day and annual tickets. The ticket is also available with a 15% discount for 18-22 year olds.

The shortlists for the awards in general is an excellent demonstration of the achievements within South Yorkshire with two SYMCA projects shortlisted in the Large Project Category and the Sheffield Access and Movement plan competing with SYBus in the Small Project Category.

The winner of the award is due to be announced next month at the Awards Dinner on Wednesday 19 November 2025 at the Leeds Marriott Hotel, Leeds. The full list nominees can be found on the CIHT website.
