The Pride of Yorkshire is officially on the prowl

The lions have landed across South Yorkshire in Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity’s latest sculpture trail. The art trail, which expands across Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, includes 150 life-sized lion and lioness sculptures and 150 smaller lion cubs to celebrate 150 years of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The trail will raise much-needed funds to support the transformation of the Emergency Department to create a calm, child-friendly space that reduces fear and anxiety, supports recovery, and enables the teams to deliver the very best emergency care.

Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity is aiming to raise £2.8 million through The Pride of Yorkshire with the help of local businesses, schools and community groups supporting the trail through sponsoring a sculpture part of the pride, or little pride.

At TravelMaster, we have sponsored our very own lioness, ‘Purrr-blic Transport’, designed by Inga Ziemele. ‘Purrr-blic Transport’ is situated opposite Sheffield Station and combines the feline spirit with playful wonder. We chose this sculpture for its depiction of a lioness carrying her herd with ease and elegance on her travels.

Artist, Inga Ziemele, is a Latvian freelance illustrator based in London known for bold, anthropomorphic characters with an explosion of chaotic, colourful and characterful work which has been showcased through the lioness.
